The story of Oyas® Belgium
In March 2014, after several months of research, foresight, and studies, Oyas® environment was created in France, specifically in Saint-Jean-de-Fos, an ancestral pottery village in Hérault. Their mission: to develop the irrigation pottery process, making it accessible to the greatest number! Its founders, Bastien and Fred, are committed to socially responsible manufacturing and a process with the lowest possible environmental impact.
It was in 2020 that Marie from Oyas® Belgium discovered irrigation pottery. At the time, it was difficult to find any produced in Belgium. Nevertheless, there is this company in the south of France that promotes environmental and social values that inspire Marie. An idea begins to take root: "What if I produced Oyas® in Brussels...?".
In July 2021, Marie decides to visit the French company with the underlying intention of starting a partnership. The first contact is positive and brings new challenges!
The fine Belgian team
In January 2022, we plant the first seed with the support of the startup accelerator.Greenlaborganised byHub.Brussels. In June 2022, at the end of the closing ceremony of Greenlab, Oyas Belgium is awarded the Triodos prize!
Throughout the summer of 2022, Marie travels through plant fairs and exhibitions to showcase the project and the Oyas® imported from the Oyas Environnement workshop. The task is challenging but very rewarding. It is time to find a workshop to move to the production phase.
In 2023, everything accelerates, I settle into the Merisiers workshop in Watermael-Boitsfort. We welcome our first ceramicist/turner partners to develop the production of 100% Belgian Oyas®! We set the bar high so that Oyas® Belgium shines and keeps its environmental and social promises.
In January 2025, thanks to a lot of hard work and perseverance, we are the winners of theBe.circular. This is a great recognition for our company and a boost to continue our projects!
